location: bar harbor, maine
song stuck in head: summer girls-- lfo (oh yes.)
mood: refreshed
yesterday was so much fun! we made the drive from rockland up to bar harbor, maine just fine. explored the little town of bar harbor, which was so cute! it actually kind of reminded me of charleston down by market street just take away the open air market in the middle and you have bar harbor: lots of shops and little side streets to explore. even has a little park at the end! looks like a great tourist trap just like the market in chucktown haha.
we ate a late lunch at a little diner that over looked the rocky coast line. it was soooo beautiful!! walked a little down by the water's edge, but it was pretty dang cold, and of course us southerners didnt pack enough long pants.... was still fun though :)
after that we checked out the Acadia national park. that was probably my favorite spot yet!! it has this awesome road that leads you through the park all around the coast. it takes you all the way up to Cadillac Mountain and from there you can get out of the car and hike around a little bit. made us so thankful for all that we are able to be doing right now. the views were absolutely amazing. got some awesome pictures that i will upload later!
there was an awesome spot called "thunder hole" where basically there is a kind of vacuum created between the rocks and the water. as the water is pulled out, we can see all the rock crevices, but then the water rushes into the closed area and causes air pockets, which forces the water up. it actually does sound like thunder, and the water can reach crazy heights depending on the level of the tide. we got there at the perfect time to watch the change from little burbles of water to when it actually sprayed a good bit! wasnt a record breaker, but was still awesome to see!! :]
it started to pour down rain as soon as we got back on the road, but only lasted about 10 minutes or so. apparently we had great timing :]
made our way to a hotel a little outside bar harbor, and now we are packing up getting ready to leave! in fact, i am being told to pack it up haha so thats all for now folks!
we cross into canada today :] here goes nothing!!!!
sounds beautiful Danielle! keep up the blogging, I love reading! So looking forward to stories about you trying FOOD! haha
